What Personal Safety Products are Appropriate for Homes with Young Children?
September 9, 2008
We live in a dangerous world, so it’s no wonder that many families with young children are interested in personal security products that may help to protect them during a home invasion. While some families choose to keep firearms as a means of personal protection, for many others the risks for these guns outweighs the potential benefits. Fortunately, for these parents of young children, there are some great alternatives:
• Pepper Spray: As long as you keep pepper spray devices out of the reach of little hands, they are a wise choice. Further, if your young children do end up finding and spraying these devices, they won’t cause any lasting damage.
• Mace Devices: These personal security products are a bit more potent than pepper spray, which means that they could theoretically give you more escape time in the case of an intruder. Similar to the pepper spray, however, an accidental spray will not cause any lasting physiological damage.
• Stun Gun: If parents are looking for personal security that will not only blind an intruder, but will also leave him or her disabled for a period of time, then a stun gun or a taser might be an option. These types of devices can potentially hurt younger children who disarm them accidentally—but the chances of this happening are slim, because they are somewhat complex to use.
Besides personal security products, the best means of protecting your family include investing in a house alarm, securing all doors and windows and keeping your property free from overgrown shrubbery. Remember: the most effective way to protect your family from people who would do them harm is to make sure those people never get into your home in the first place. The very best protection the industry has to offer at the moment is 2 way voice. Google it. It is nearly impossible to break into a home successfully with 2 way voice. just my two cents
There are several products which could be used to make home safe and child too. hidden camera, smoke detector used to secure home. and to secure childs several products like stun guns, pepper spray, detectors may use.
Thanks for the tips and recommendations. I think what is most important is for the homeowner to take some time, define specific home security goals, do the research and find the system that meets those specific goals. Too many companies make blanket promises and provide one-size-fits-all burglar alarms. All that matters is if the system meets your needs.
Thanks for all the info. I own a security company in Las Vegas and found this information useful.
